How much should you tip your Cab Driver?

In the United States, tips are considered part of a taxi drivers wages. On great days, the driver will have two trips per hour. Our normal rate has been less than one trip per hour. The only times you should not tip is when you are poor and have no money or when the service was not acceptable. If a charge card is used, the part of the charge above and beyond the fare will be considered a tip and will be given to the driver in cash at the time the daily account is settled.

Standard gratuity (tips) for other industries.

Restaurant – 10% to 25% of meal price before taxes (17% standard for normal service).

Limousine – 20% of fare.

Hotel – $2 to $20 per day depending on room rate.

Skycaps and other baggage handlers – $1 to $5 per bag.

Grocery Baggers – $1 or $5 or $10 depending on economic status of customer.
